Abigail

We lost another member of our Hot Water Rescue family recently. Abigail has crossed the bridge and we join her family in their sadness at her passing. Her family sent the following tribute to their beloved girl.

"We are broken hearted to report that Abby left this world today, on her own accord in her own brave, wonderful way. She made the decision herself and took control of her life.

She had a great day: basked in the sun, ate a full meal (with chicken breast), greeted the oil man coming up from the basement, wagged her tail for me every time we saw each other. When we returned from skating at 4:30 (I left her at 2:30) she was asleep on her bed (and didn't rouse when we came in, as usual) so we thought nothing of it. I think she waited for us to leave to tell you the truth.

As I was cooking I realized she didn't come in to see what was cooking and I went over to notice that her breathing wasn't noticable-it had been so labored lately. She was gone. Her eyes were closed and she was in the position she always took to sleep.

Couldn't ask for more!! Our brave angel knew nothing but ease, and love at the end, something I wish for all of our 4 footers.

We will miss her.

PS we can all celebrate in the time, money, family and love we invested to make Abby's last year so remarkable for her."

The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called the Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
