Introducing: TASC - The New Mexico Project

Recently, Barbie Perry - Executive Director of Hot Water Rescue - has started working with a shelter in New Mexico. New Mexico is the leading state in animal cruelty. There are minimal if any resources in portions of New Mexico for abused and abandoned animals. TASC was started as a spay/neuter clinic and locals began consistantly abandoning animals. Once the animals are abandoned, TASC does not have the resources available for adoptions. This has made TASC extremely overpopulated with adoptable animals that have no hope. The mission Hot Water Rescue has taken on is to provide a temporary outlet for the TASC dogs. Ms. Perry is working to build the adoption base, do fundraising, working with all the dogs, and geting the shelter on its feet so that these deserving animals have a chance.

Hot Water Rescue is working to raise funds to fly some of the dogs back east where they can have a chance to find good homes. These dogs are housed outside and are victim to all types of weather, as well as being left vulerable to theft. Neglect (and other illegal activities) are rampant in the area and the breeds HWR loves so much are in danger here... We need adoptive and foster homes, as well as donations to play for airfare. We need help buying their freedom.

    How TASC Adoptions Work:

You apply to adopt a TASC dog just like you'd apply for a Hot Water Rescue dog, by filling out and submitting our online adoption application (click here for form). The difference is - since most of the TASC dogs are located in New Mexico, we ask their adopters to pay what their airfare will cost plus the cost of an airline-approved crate in lieu of our regular adoption fee. The crate can be used to crate-train your new pup once they arrive safely home, and/or can also serve as a cozy, safe doggy den. This also means an adopter would have to commit to the dog they're interested in without meeting s/he first -- or commit to fostering the dog in the case that it doesn't feel like a match once the dog is in their home. If the TASC dog you're interested in is already in a foster home in CT, then there would be an adoption fee.

To apply to become a foster home for a TASC dog, please fill out and submit our online Foster Home application (click here for form). Our foster program for TASC dogs will function similarly to the existing Hot Water Rescue foster program.

We are also going to start collecting donations towards airfare and crates - in order to help us move as many dogs as possible from the New Mexico shelter - to foster homes in CT and the Northeast. Please contact us for more information at: SaveNabandondDog@aol.com if you'd like to help. We hope to have a simple means of donating to TASC dogs online in the very near future.

Thank you for your interest, these dogs are in desperate need of a wonderful forever home...could it be yours'?
